What an economy-focused calibration is

Rather than chasing maximum output, an economy-focused approach aims for delivery that reduces effort in normal driving: torque available lower down so the vehicle needs less throttle and fewer downshifts to maintain pace.

For a high-mileage motorway car or a van doing long daily runs, that can make the vehicle easier to drive efficiently.

Why we don’t promise MPG figures

No specific fuel-saving figure is guaranteed. Real-world consumption is driven by factors a calibration has no control over:

• Driving style, and how much of the available torque you use.
• Traffic conditions and journey type — short cold trips behave nothing like long motorway runs.
• Vehicle condition and maintenance.
• Load, roof racks, trailers and how the vehicle is packed.
• Weather and temperature.
• Tyres, pressures and rolling resistance.
• Vehicle specification, gearing and drivetrain.

The honest summary

If a business offers you a guaranteed percentage saving before seeing the vehicle, they cannot know that. We would rather discuss whether an economy-focused calibration is appropriate for your vehicle and how it is driven, and let you decide with realistic expectations.

The Pre-Remap Health Check comes first

Before any calibration work begins, we carry out relevant diagnostic and vehicle-condition checks. The exact checks depend on the vehicle, engine, diagnostic information and any known concerns.

If the vehicle is not in the right condition for remapping, we do not continue with the calibration until the issue has been addressed. That is the part of our process customers tend to remember: vehicle condition first, remapping second.
